The T30, T31 and T32 were all officially sold in Russia; the T32 was built near St. Petersburg from 2015 onward. The T33 was never officially supplied to Russia.

X-Trail Honor: a new "thirty-two" from China

In China, the Dongfeng Nissan joint venture keeps building the X-Trail T32 alongside the new generation. In 2021 the model was renamed X-Trail Honor, in 2023 it became the X-Trail Classic, and in mid-2025 it got an updated interior:

• Infotainment: a wide 12.3″ screen instead of the old 9″, plus Huawei HiCar and online services.
• Familiar ergonomics: analog gauges, a separate button-operated climate control panel, and a conventional gear selector.
• Mechanicals: the naturally aspirated 2.0 MR20 (up to 151 hp), an Xtronic CVT, and front-wheel drive.
• Price in China: around ¥160,000–167,000.

The main upside of the Honor for a Moscow buyer is the reduced recycling fee: it's a new, non-turbo crossover with predictable payments. The main trade-off is front-wheel drive only and a single engine choice. If you need all-wheel drive, look at the T33 e-Power or a used T31/T32.

Nissan X-Trail T33 and the 2026 model-year X-Trail

The current T33 generation is offered in China in two versions:

• 1.5 VC-Turbo — a three-cylinder turbocharged engine with a variable compression ratio, 204 hp, from ¥180,000.
• e-Power — a series hybrid: electric motors turn the wheels while a 1.5-liter petrol engine acts as a generator. All-wheel drive via e-4ORCE, 213 hp, from ¥189,900.

Both versions exceed 160 hp, so for individuals the recycling fee is calculated at the commercial rate. For series hybrids, it's the electric motors' power that counts, not the internal combustion engine's. We'll still deliver a new T33 X-Trail, but we'll show you the difference in payments in the budget upfront.

The next generation is on the horizon: in September 2026, Nissan unveiled the new Rogue (the X-Trail's North American twin) in the US with a 228 hp e-Power hybrid. A new X-Trail is expected to follow — worth keeping in mind if you're planning a purchase for the next few years.

The reduced rate applies only if the car is imported for personal use, no more than one per year, and not resold within a year of import. For a 3–5-year-old car, duty is calculated from displacement: for the 2.0-liter (1,997 cc) — €2.7/cc, about €5,400. New cars are cleared based on their value instead. X-Trail with a manual, diesel or automatic: what you can actually buy

• Manual gearbox. A 6-speed manual was available on the T31 and on the diesel or base 2.0 T32. The Chinese Honor and T33 are only built with a CVT or e-Power, so a manual-gearbox X-Trail in Moscow means the secondary market.
• Diesel. Russia sold the T31 2.0 dCi and the T32 1.6 dCi (the latter is rare). There's no diesel X-Trail in China. So a diesel X-Trail means a used car on the Russian market only.
• Automatic. Almost every two-pedal X-Trail has the Xtronic CVT: on the used T32 market, that's over 90% of cars. A conventional torque-converter automatic was available on the T30 (4-speed) and the diesel T31 (6-speed).
• All-wheel drive. The Honor is front-wheel drive only. All-wheel drive is available on the T33 e-Power and on most used T30–T32 models (an on-demand coupling).

Used Nissan X-Trail in Moscow: what to check

The X-Trail secondary market in Moscow is large, but condition varies a lot from car to car. What to check by generation:

• T32 (2015–2022). The main concern is the CVT: fluid-change history, jerks and whining under acceleration. Pre-2018-facelift cars can have CAN-bus contact faults, sometimes affecting the power steering and starting. The paint is soft: chips on the hood edge and the roof above the windshield rust quickly. The 2.0-liter engine's oil consumption rises after 150,000 km, and the timing chain usually needs attention after 130,000–150,000 km.
• T31 (2007–2014). These cars are 12–19 years old: check the sills and wheel arches for corrosion, the CVT's remaining service life, and the all-wheel-drive coupling; on the diesel, check the fuel system and exhaust.
• T30 (2000–2007). At 19-plus years old: check the body and subframe, the all-wheel-drive coupling, and the actual mileage. Buy one only after an inspection on a lift.
