Cars from Europe to order and turnkey with delivery to Russia in 2026
Ordering a car from Europe is a legal way to buy a well-maintained car with a transparent service history from 350,000 ₽ cheaper than a comparable option at a Russian dealership or on the secondary market. AutoSHTAB delivers cars from Europe to Russia turnkey: sourcing → on-site inspection → purchase → delivery → customs clearance → SBKTS and e-PTS → registration with the traffic police (GIBDD). The average timeline is 30 to 45 days. We work under contract with a fixed budget; the contract, reports and support are in Russian. You can still bring in a car from Europe right now: in 2026 it remains fully legal — below we cover prices in rubles, sanctions limits, customs clearance and timelines.
Why it pays to buy a car from Europe
Despite the restrictions, buying and importing a car from Europe in 2026 remains a workable and cost-effective option. There are several reasons to bring in a car from Europe:
- Condition and maintenance. European cars are serviced on schedule at dealers and driven on good roads on quality fuel — the cars that go up for sale are well-maintained with a complete service book.
- Honest mileage. Mileage and history are recorded in TÜV and DEKRA inspection reports (Germany), and in the Car-Pass (Belgium) and NAP (Netherlands) databases — it's hard for a seller to roll back the odometer.
- Why it's so cheap. Europe's secondary market is the largest in the world, and competition pushes prices down. Plus, some dealer cars are sold for export at a net price — without European VAT (19–21% depending on the country).
- Rich trim levels. European versions are often better equipped than the same cars once officially sold in Russia.
- Overland logistics. Delivery of cars from Europe to Russia goes by truck with no sea leg — the route is shorter and more predictable than from the UAE or the USA.
Which cars can be exported from Europe in 2026: sanctions restrictions
The European Union has restricted direct car exports to Russia. Banned are:
- since March 2022 — cars priced over €50,000;
- since June 2023 — cars with an engine displacement over 1,900 cc, regardless of price or age;
- electric cars and hybrids — entirely, regardless of displacement or price.
In practice this means: petrol and diesel cars with engines up to 1.9 L and priced up to €50,000 can be legally exported directly from Europe. This covers the bulk of popular European models from Volkswagen, Skoda, Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz — and they also turn out to be the most cost-effective for customs clearance. We don't use "grey" export schemes: it's not worth risking a client's money.
Which cars we deliver from Europe: makes and models
We bring in both new, unregistered cars and used cars from Europe to order — subject to export restrictions. The top orders consistently include:
- Volkswagen: Tiguan, T-Roc, Golf, Passat, Polo.
- Skoda: Octavia, Superb, Karoq, Kodiaq, Fabia.
- Audi: A3, Q2, Q3 in the 35 TFSI trims.
- BMW: 118i, X1 and X2 sDrive18i.
- Mercedes-Benz: A-Class, B-Class, CLA and GLA in the 180 trims.
- Renault, Peugeot, Opel, Volvo — for specific configurations that clear the export limits.

Diesel sedans and wagons from Europe
The classic pick on this route is the economical diesel Skoda Octavia Combi, Superb and VW Passat Variant with 1.6 TDI engines (115–120 hp): they fit both the 1.9 L sanctions limit and the reduced recycling fee. Roomy wagons, almost gone from the Russian market, are one of the main reasons to order a car from Europe.
Premium from Europe: BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche
Larger models (BMW X5, Mercedes GLE, Porsche Cayenne, Audi Q7) have engines over 1.9 L and prices above €50,000 — their direct export from the EU is banned. We check the displacement, price and drivetrain for a specific configuration: if there's no legal route, we say so honestly and offer an alternative, for example the same model from UAE or China stock (those routes work for us too). The "exportable" premium segment is left with entry-level BMW, Audi and Mercedes with 1.3–1.5 L engines.
Cars from Europe up to 160 hp — why this is the best deal in 2026
The key factor for savings in 2026 is engine power up to 160 hp. It's what determines the size of the recycling fee.
Since December 1, 2025 (Russian Government Decree No. 1713 of 01.11.2025), the reduced recycling fee for individuals has been kept only for cars up to 160 hp imported for personal use:
| Power / age | Recycling fee for an individual (personal use) |
|---|---|
| Up to 160 hp, new (under 3 years) | ~3,400 ₽ (reduced rate) |
| Up to 160 hp, over 3 years | ~5,200 ₽ (reduced rate) |
| Over 160 hp | Commercial recycling fee — hundreds of thousands of rubles |
Important: the reduced rate applies only if the conditions are met — the car is imported for personal use, no more than one per person per year, and it cannot be resold within 1 year of import (otherwise the fee is recalculated at the commercial rate). The reduced rates for individuals are locked in through 2030.
Customs clearance for cars from Europe in Russia: duty, fee, recycling fee
Customs processes cars from Europe under the general EAEU rules — usually at entry from Belarus or in the delivery region. An individual pays three mandatory charges:
- Customs duty — at a unified rate (EEC Council Decision No. 107 of 20.12.2017). Depends on engine size, age and value of the car. For combustion-engine cars imported by an individual, VAT and excise tax are not paid separately — they're included in the unified rate.
- Customs fee for processing the declaration — a fixed amount on a scale, depending on the car's value.
- Recycling fee — at the reduced rate for cars up to 160 hp, or the commercial rate above 160 hp.
Which age is more cost-effective? The cheapest cars from Europe to clear customs are "sweet spot" cars aged 3–5 years — the duty on them is calculated from engine size at a reduced rate: for a common 1.4 TSI engine (1,395 cc) that's around €2,400 (1,395 cc × €1.7/cc). For new cars from Europe (under 3 years), the duty is calculated from the car's value (usually 48–54%) and comes out higher — we can bring in a new car too, but the calculation will show the difference. The customs clearance cost for a car from Europe to Russia consists of all three payments — we lock in the exact amount in the estimate before the deal.
A separate advantage of this route: recent European cars carry the Euro 6 emissions class — they clear the "no lower than Euro 5" requirement for SBKTS without any issues.
How much does a turnkey car from Europe cost: a sample calculation
The price of a car from Europe in Russia is calculated as: car price in Europe + delivery + customs clearance (duty + customs fee + recycling fee) = price in hand in Moscow, in rubles.
You can estimate the duty, fee and recycling fee for your car in our recycling fee and customs calculator.
Example for a VW Tiguan 1.4 TSI crossover (approximate, 2026):
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Type | Petrol, 1.4 L (1,395 cc), 150 hp, aged 3–5 years |
| Invoice price | ~€22,000 (~2,020,000 ₽) |
| Customs duty (1,395 cc × €1.7/cc) | ~220,000 ₽ |
| Customs fee | ~15,500 ₽ |
| Recycling fee (reduced, up to 160 hp, over 3 years) | ~5,200 ₽ |
| Delivery: truck Europe → border + logistics to Moscow | ~150,000–250,000 ₽ |
The amounts are approximate and depend on the exchange rate, trim and route. How much a specific car from Europe costs turnkey with the price "in hand" in Moscow — we'll calculate it for free.
Where we source cars: European sites, catalogs and auctions
Prices on European sites are the price of the car in Europe, without export, delivery or customs clearance, so comparing offers only makes sense "turnkey." We search for and buy cars through all the main channels:
- mobile.de and AutoScout24 — the largest car sales sites in Europe: hundreds of thousands of cars in stock across Germany and the entire EU;
- dealer platforms and trade-ins — cars with a confirmed service history, some exported at a net price without European VAT;
- closed dealer auctions (BCA, Autorola) — lots cheaper than the market, access limited to accredited participants.
We work across all of Europe: Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Czechia, Poland, Lithuania. For selected lots we send you a full calculation — so you're comparing not "sites and prices," but real prices for cars from Europe with customs clearance and delivery to Moscow.
Inspecting a car from Europe before purchase
We inspect every car before purchase — you make your decision based on facts, not on photos from a listing:
- VIN and European database history — mileage, accidents, liens, number of owners, use as a taxi or rental;
- service book and inspection records — dealer records, TÜV/DEKRA reports, Car-Pass, NAP;
- on-site inspection by a specialist — body thickness gauge, engine, suspension and electronics diagnostics;
- photo and video report — the car's real condition before you put any money down.
This is how we select verified cars from Europe with honest mileage — and talk you out of buying if a particular unit is problematic.
How we deliver cars from Europe: the process
A turnkey car delivery from Europe means one company is responsible for the entire process, from sourcing to license plates. Our stages:
- Sourcing. We identify a model to fit your budget and needs, checking the sanctions limits (up to 1.9 L and up to €50,000) and the 160 hp threshold right away.
- On-site inspection. Inspection, VIN history, service book, photo and video report.
- Purchase and export processing. A secure deal with the seller, deregistration, EU export declaration.
- Delivery to Russia. By enclosed or open truck via Belarus, cargo insured for the entire route.
- Customs clearance in Russia. Declaration, duty, customs fee, recycling fee — at the full rate, with no "transit" schemes.
- SBKTS and e-PTS. Installing ERA-GLONASS, passing the testing lab, issuing the electronic vehicle title.
- Delivery to Moscow and registration with the traffic police (GIBDD). We hand over the finished car with documents and plates.
Every deal is assigned a personal manager: you see the status and reports at every stage.
Delivery of cars from Europe to Russia: route and timing
Bringing a car from Europe to Russia takes 30 to 45 days on average, from purchase to handover. The delivery scheme is well established: the main route is by truck via Belarus; driving it yourself is possible, but we recommend a truck — no extra mileage or risks on the road.
| Stage | Approximate time |
|---|---|
| Sourcing, inspection and purchase in Europe | 3–7 days |
| Export processing and departure from the EU | 5–10 days |
| Truck to the border and transit through Belarus | 5–10 days |
| Customs clearance, SBKTS and e-PTS | 5–10 days |
| Delivery to Moscow and handover | 3–7 days |
Queues and delays of 1–2 weeks are possible at border crossings during peak season — we build them into the plan and keep you informed.
How to choose a company to bring in a car from Europe
Searches for "ratings of firms that bring in cars from Europe," "ratings of companies for car delivery" and "reviews" aren't random: there are many firms and private drivers on this route, and the quality of execution varies. A reliable company for delivering cars from Europe is marked by:
- a contract with a registered company and a fixed budget — no "the price changed at the border";
- customs clearance in Russia at the full rate — not "preferential" registration through Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan or Armenia: since 2024, customs has been recalculating the recycling fee and duty for such cars against the new owner;
- the car is checked before purchase, with reports at every stage;
- real case studies and client reviews with models and amounts, not an abstract rating;
- only legal export within EU restrictions — no "grey" schemes.
AutoSHTAB operates under contract as AutoSHTAB GROUP LLC; client case studies with real savings figures are published in the Cases section.
Frequently asked questions
Can I legally bring a car from Europe to Russia in 2026?
Yes. Importing a car from Europe for personal use is legal: there are no restrictions on the Russian side, while the EU side has export limits (up to 1.9 L, up to €50,000, no electric cars or hybrids). We handle the customs clearance, SBKTS, e-PTS and registration for you.
Which car can I bring from Europe in 2026?
Directly — petrol and diesel cars with an engine up to 1.9 L and priced up to €50,000. This covers most popular Volkswagen, Skoda, Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz models in entry-level trims, as well as Renault, Peugeot and Opel.
How do you calculate the cost of a car from Europe?
Formula: price in Europe + delivery + customs clearance (duty + customs fee + recycling fee). An online customs calculator for cars from Europe only gives a rough guide — we do the exact calculation for a specific model for free.
What's the recycling fee for a car from Europe in 2026?
For an individual importing for personal use: ~3,400 ₽ for a new car up to 160 hp, and ~5,200 ₽ for a car up to 160 hp over 3 years old. For cars above 160 hp, the commercial recycling fee applies — hundreds of thousands of rubles.
Which cars from Europe are the best value?
The best price-to-payments ratio is on cars aged 3–5 years with an engine up to 1.9 L and power up to 160 hp: VW Tiguan and Golf, Skoda Octavia and Karoq, Audi A3 and Q3 35 TFSI, BMW 118i and X1, 1.6 TDI diesels. They carry the minimum recycling fee and a reduced duty rate.
Why are cars from Europe cheaper than in Russia?
A huge secondary market with high competition, honest mileage, and export at a net price without European VAT for some cars. Even accounting for delivery and customs clearance, the savings on popular models start from 350,000 ₽.
How long does delivery from Europe to Russia take?
A truck from Germany or Lithuania via Belarus to Moscow takes 2–3 weeks; the entire turnkey cycle with customs clearance averages 30–45 days.
Can I buy a car from Europe without customs clearance?
Not for permanent use in Russia — without customs clearance the car can't be registered with the traffic police (GIBDD). We don't use schemes involving registration in Armenia or Kazakhstan — customs recalculates the payments on such cars, and the problems land on the owner.
Can I bring in a BMW X5, Mercedes GLE or an electric car from Europe?
Direct export of such cars from the EU is banned (engine over 1.9 L, price above €50,000, electric cars and hybrids are prohibited outright). We'll check the specific configuration: if there's no legal route, we'll tell you honestly and offer the same model from the UAE or China instead.
