Cars from the USA to order and turnkey with delivery to Russia in 2026

Ordering a car from the USA (America) is a way to buy a car with a transparent auction history noticeably cheaper than a comparable option on the Russian market. AutoSHTAB delivers cars from the USA to Russia turnkey: sourcing → history check and inspection → auction purchase → sea delivery → customs clearance → SBKTS and e-PTS → registration with the traffic police (GIBDD). The average timeline is 2 to 4 months. We work under contract with a fixed budget; the contract, reports and support are in Russian.

Why it pays to buy a car from the USA

America is the world's largest used-car market, and buying a car from the USA offers advantages not found on other routes:

  • Auction prices below market. At the insurance auctions Copart and IAAI, cars often sell 20–40% cheaper than retail prices — this is the main source of cheap cars from the USA.
  • Transparent history. Carfax and AutoCheck reports are available by VIN: mileage, accidents, number of owners, service records. It's practically impossible for a seller to roll back the odometer or hide a crash.
  • Unique models. Pickups, muscle cars, full-size SUVs and electric vehicles not found in Europe or Asia — only on the American market.
  • Rich trim levels. Cars for the US market are traditionally well-equipped even in mid-range trims.
  • Left-hand drive. All cars from America are left-hand drive, so nothing needs converting.
  • Honest condition. Even damaged lots are sold with photos and a description of the defects — you know in advance what you're buying.

  • Tesla: Model 3, Model Y, Model S, Model X.
  • "Japanese" and "German" models built for the US market: Toyota, Lexus, Honda, Nissan, as well as the BMW X5/X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLE/GLS, which are built specifically in the USA.

Didn't find the model you need? Get in touch — we'll check lots at American auctions and calculate the turnkey price to fit your budget.

Pickups and muscle cars from the USA

The Ford F-150, RAM 1500, Chevrolet Camaro, Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger are the hallmark of this route. In Russia such cars are scarce and expensive, while in the USA it's a mass-market segment: the choice is huge, prices are lower, trims are richer. It's on pickups and muscle cars that the difference from Russian prices is often at its greatest.

Tesla and electric cars from the USA

The USA is Tesla's home, and the choice of EVs here is one of the best in the world. An important payment nuance: when importing an EV, an individual pays a duty of about 15%, VAT (22% in 2026) and an excise tax based on power — unlike combustion-engine cars, which are subject to a unified rate. That's why we run a separate precise calculation for every Tesla before the deal — so you see the full cost, not an "approximate price from an ad."

Classic cars from the USA

A separate niche is buying a classic car from the USA: America is the leading market for classics, from the Ford Mustang of the 60s to the Cadillacs of the 50s. For cars over 30 years old in original condition, favorable import terms apply: no confirmation of emissions class or ERA-GLONASS button is needed, and no recycling fee is charged. A classic car can be registered as an ordinary vehicle (duty by age and engine size, title and plates) or as a cultural asset — we calculate both options for every case.

Where we source cars: auctions and platforms in the USA

Prices on American sites and in auction catalogs are the price of the lot in the USA, without delivery or customs clearance, so comparing offers only makes sense "turnkey." We work with all the main channels:

  • Copart and IAAI — the largest insurance auctions: cars after accidents, hail damage or theft, as well as whole cars from leasing and trade-ins. The catalog with prices and photos is public, with daily auctions.
  • Manheim — a closed dealer auction: whole cars with condition confirmed by inspection; access limited to licensed dealers.
  • Dealer platforms and private listings — new cars from the USA and cars with no accident history.

A damaged lot with minor defects often comes out hundreds of thousands of rubles cheaper than a whole car after repair, but it isn't for everyone. For selected lots we send you a full calculation including repairs — so you're comparing not "sites and prices," but real prices for cars from the USA with customs clearance and delivery to Moscow.

Inspecting a car from the USA before purchase

We check every lot before bidding — you make your decision based on facts, not on photos from the catalog:

  • Carfax and AutoCheck reports by VIN — mileage, accidents, number of owners, legal status, use as a taxi or rental;
  • auction sheet and sales history — type of damage, title status (Clean Title / Salvage), prior times the lot went to auction;
  • real mileage — American odometers show miles (1 mile = 1.6 km); we cross-check and convert against the documents;
  • on-site inspection — on request, an inspector assesses the condition of the body and components before bidding;
  • repair cost assessment — for damaged lots we estimate the repair budget in advance and include it in the calculation.

This is how we select verified cars from the USA with an honest history — and talk you out of bidding if a lot is problematic.

Cars up to 160 horsepower from the USA — how to save on the recycling fee

The key factor for savings in 2026 is engine power up to 160 hp. It's what determines the size of the recycling fee.

Since December 1, 2025 (Russian Government Decree No. 1713 of 01.11.2025), the reduced recycling fee for individuals has been kept only for cars up to 160 hp imported for personal use:

Power / ageRecycling fee for an individual (personal use)
Up to 160 hp, new (under 3 years)~3,400 ₽ (reduced rate)
Up to 160 hp, over 3 years~5,200 ₽ (reduced rate)
Over 160 hpCommercial recycling fee — hundreds of thousands of rubles
A feature of this route: pickups, muscle cars and full-size SUVs from the USA exceed 160 hp, so the recycling fee for them is calculated at the commercial rate — we include it in the estimate right away, with no "surprises at the border." Popular American models, however, qualify for the reduced rate: the Chevrolet Trailblazer 1.3 (155 hp), Chevrolet Trax (137 hp), Honda Civic 2.0 (158 hp), Nissan Sentra (149 hp), Toyota Corolla 1.8 (139 hp).

Important: the reduced rate applies only if the conditions are met — the car is imported for personal use, no more than one per person per year, and it cannot be resold within 1 year of import (otherwise the fee is recalculated at the commercial rate). The reduced rates for individuals are locked in through 2030.

Customs clearance for cars from the USA in Russia: duty, fee, recycling fee

Customs clearance for cars from the USA to Russia follows the general EAEU rules. An individual pays three mandatory charges:

  1. Customs duty — at a unified rate (EEC Council Decision No. 107 of 20.12.2017). Depends on engine size, age and value of the car. For combustion-engine cars imported by an individual, VAT and excise tax are not paid separately — they're included in the unified rate.
  2. Customs fee for processing the declaration — a fixed amount on a scale, depending on the car's value.
  3. Recycling fee — at the reduced rate for cars up to 160 hp, or the commercial rate above 160 hp.

Which age is more cost-effective? "Sweet spot" cars aged 3–5 years are optimal — the duty on them is calculated from engine size at a reduced rate. A nuance of the USA route: transit takes 2–4 months, so we don't take on lots that are about to turn 5 years old — otherwise the car would "cross" the age threshold in transit and the duty would go up. We calculate the age as of the declaration filing date already at the sourcing stage.

An online customs calculator for cars from the USA only gives a rough guide: it doesn't account for the exchange rate on the payment date, auction fees, the actual power used for the recycling fee, or logistics. We do a precise calculation for free and lock it into the contract.

How much does a turnkey car from the USA cost: a sample calculation

The cost of a car from the USA in Russia is calculated as: auction lot price + auction fees + delivery + customs clearance (duty + customs fee + recycling fee) = price in hand in Moscow.

You can estimate the duty, fee and recycling fee for your car in our recycling fee and customs calculator.

Example for a Chevrolet Trailblazer 1.3 crossover (approximate, 2026):

ParameterValue
TypePetrol, 1.3 L (1,338 cc), 155 hp, aged 3–5 years
Lot price with auction fees~$14,000 (~1,200,000 ₽)
Customs duty (1,338 cc × €1.7/cc)~215,000 ₽
Customs fee~15,500 ₽
Recycling fee (reduced, up to 160 hp, over 3 years)~5,200 ₽
Delivery: US port → sea → RF border → Moscow~350,000–450,000 ₽

The amounts are approximate and depend on the exchange rate, auction fees and route. For powerful cars (over 160 hp) the commercial recycling fee is added to the calculation — but on pickups and muscle cars the savings hold up thanks to the price difference. How much it costs to bring in a specific car from the USA with the price "in hand" in Moscow — we'll calculate it for free.

Delivery of cars from the USA to Russia: route, timing and price

There are no direct shipping lines between the USA and Russia, so bringing a car from the USA to Russia goes through third countries — the main route in 2026 runs through the Georgian port of Poti with subsequent transit to the Russian border:

StageApproximate time
Purchasing the lot and delivery to the port of departure (New Jersey, Savannah, Houston, Los Angeles)1–3 weeks
Sea: US port → Poti (Georgia)30–60 days
Transit through Georgia and truck to Moscow1–2 weeks
Customs clearance, SBKTS and e-PTS1–2 weeks
Total "from auction to client"~2–4 months

The delivery cost for a car from the USA depends on the port of departure, the car's dimensions and the loading method (a shared container for several cars is cheaper than an individual one) — a benchmark for a passenger car in 2026: ~350,000–450,000 ₽ to Moscow. Cargo is insured for the entire route; we lock in the exact delivery price in the estimate along with the other costs.

How we deliver cars from the USA: the process

A turnkey car delivery from the USA means one company is responsible for the entire process, from sourcing to license plates. Our stages:

  1. Sourcing. We identify a model to fit your budget and needs, calculating the recycling fee by power, the duty by age, and a repair budget right away if the lot is damaged.
  2. Verification. Carfax, AutoCheck, the auction sheet, and, if needed, an on-site inspection.
  3. Bidding and purchase. We bid at auction through a licensed participant, buy the lot and pay the invoice — no direct transfers to "unknown sellers."
  4. Delivery to Russia. Truck to the US port, loading into a container, sea to Poti, transit through Georgia; cargo insured the whole way.
  5. Customs clearance. Declaration, duty, customs fee, recycling fee.
  6. SBKTS and e-PTS. Installing ERA-GLONASS, passing the testing lab, issuing the electronic vehicle title.
  7. Delivery to Moscow and registration with the traffic police (GIBDD). We hand over the finished car with documents and plates.

Every deal is assigned a personal manager: you see the status and reports at every stage.

How to choose a company to bring in a car from the USA

Searches for "company ratings" and "reviews of cars from the USA" aren't random: there are many firms in the business of delivering and selling cars from the USA, and the quality of execution varies. What to look for when choosing:

  • a contract with a registered company and a fixed budget — including auction fees and the recycling fee based on actual power, no "the price changed at the border";
  • the lot is checked before bidding (Carfax, auction sheet, inspection), with reports at every stage;
  • real case studies and client reviews with models and amounts, not an abstract rating;
  • a transparent payment scheme and insured transport.

AutoSHTAB operates under contract as AutoSHTAB GROUP LLC; client case studies with real savings figures are published in the Cases section.

Frequently asked questions

Can an individual legally bring a car from the USA to Russia in 2026?

Yes. Importing a car from the USA for personal use is legal: customs clearance under EAEU rules, SBKTS, e-PTS and registration with the traffic police (GIBDD). We take the USA's export restrictions into account — cars priced over $50,000 aren't exported directly to Russia; for such requests we tell you honestly about the restrictions and offer an alternative, for example a similar model from the UAE market.

How do you calculate the cost of a car from the USA?

Formula: lot price + auction fees + delivery + customs clearance (duty + customs fee + recycling fee). An online customs calculator for cars from the USA only gives a rough guide — we do the exact calculation for a specific lot for free.

How long does delivery from the USA to Russia take?

The sea leg to the port of Poti takes 30–60 days; the entire turnkey cycle with customs clearance and delivery to Moscow averages 2–4 months.

What's the recycling fee for a car from the USA in 2026?

For an individual importing for personal use: ~3,400 ₽ for a new car up to 160 hp, and ~5,200 ₽ for a car up to 160 hp over 3 years old. For cars above 160 hp (which is most pickups and SUVs from the USA), the commercial recycling fee applies — we include it in the estimate right away.

Which cars from the USA are the best value ("sweet spot")?

Cars aged 3–5 years: the duty on them is calculated from engine size at a reduced rate. Maximum savings are on models up to 160 hp (Trailblazer, Trax, Civic, Sentra, Corolla): a minimum recycling fee plus a low duty. Pickups and muscle cars have higher payments, but the price difference from Russia is also bigger.

Is it worth buying a damaged car from a US auction?

It depends on the damage and the model: a lot with minor body defects often comes out significantly cheaper than a whole car after repair. Before bidding, we assess the auction sheet and photos, estimate the repair budget — and tell you honestly when it's more cost-effective to take a whole car instead.

Is it worth importing a Tesla or another electric car from the USA?

The choice of EVs in the USA is huge, but the payments are higher than for combustion-engine cars: a ~15% duty, VAT (22% in 2026), and an excise tax based on power. We calculate each electric car individually — for many models the savings hold up.

Can I bring in a classic car from the USA?

Yes, that's one of our specialties: for cars over 30 years old in original condition, no recycling fee, ERA-GLONASS or emissions-class confirmation is needed. We calculate both registration options — as an ordinary vehicle with plates, or as a cultural asset.

Mileage in miles — how do you verify it?

American odometers show miles (1 mile = 1.6 km). We cross-check the readings against Carfax/AutoCheck reports and auction records for all years — discrepancies are visible right away, and we screen out cars with rolled-back mileage at the sourcing stage.
